Ø  Spanish/English Dictionary (to be kept at home)

Grading: The most effective way to be successful in my class is to keep up each day with what we are doing in class.  In Spanish we continually build on what we have learned.  As a result, it can be quite easy to “get behind” in this class if you do not review your notes or complete your homework daily.

Tests: 55% Tests are given every two to three weeks.

Quizzes: 30% (Oral presentations, quizzes, projects, participation and notebook checks) Quizzes are given weekly and cover grammar and/or vocabulary.

Homework: 15% (Daily homework assignments) Homework is given daily and a grade of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% will be given based on neatness, completion, and at times, correctness.  **The lowest homework grade will be dropped each quarter.

No late homework will be accepted

***If a project is late, you will lose 10 points for each day that it is not turned in.  After 2 days, you will receive a zero.

Absent/Make-up work: Assignments, tests and quizzes missed due to absence must be made up within 5 school days or a zero will be given.  This does not apply to projects, tests/quizzes, or assignments that were assigned prior to the absence if only 1 day was missed.  You will be expected to take the test or turn in the assignment on the day of your return.  Please come and see me either before or after class to discuss what your make-up work and day will be.  If an extenuating circumstance arises (such as extended absence from school), please see me and we will devise a plan for completing the missed work.

Rules and consequences: I expect each student to adhere to the following:

ü  Be in your seat with all materials (books, binders and writing utensils) when the bell rings.

ü  Cell phones MUST be turned off and in backpack BEFORE entering the classroom.

ü  Binders are to be updated on a daily basis.  This includes daily classroom notes, vocabulary lists, homework, etc.  Keeping up with daily activities is important because a notebook quiz will be given at the end of each quarter.

ü  Participation is necessary and expected daily.

ü  Respect for the teacher and your classmates will be shown at all times.

ü  Follow directions given by the teacher.

ü  Obey all BEHS rules as set forth in the handbook.

Consequences to broken rules:

1.      Verbal warning

2.      Lunch detention or after school detention and a call home to parent if needed

3.      Disciplinary referral

Students who fail to serve a lunch detention or after school detention for me will be referred to the disciplinarian.  In the event that a student breaks a more serious rule, immediate disciplinary referral will occur.

Extra help: I encourage all students to come for extra help.  Extra help sessions are Wednesday from 3:00-3:30 or by appointment on another day. If several students are interested in organizing an after school review before the exam, he/she should come and speak to me to make arrangements.
